Evacuated Due to Flooding
Heavy rains of the last couple
of days flooded many parts of
Palmares and San Ramón, two
communities northwest of San
José. More than 150 families had
to be evacuated from their
homes.
Wal-Mart Breaks Ground For New
Super Store in Escazú
Earth moving has begun to clear
the site for a new Hipermas
store in Escazú. Wal-Mart Costa
Rica says it will invest us$12.5
million dollars in the latest "hipermercado",
which according to Wal-Mart
officials, will look more like a
Wal-Mart, including the Wal-Mart
name on the outside, rather than
the existing Hipermas stores.

Resumes Relations with Kuwait,
Bahrain, Yemen
Costa Rica has resumed
diplomatic relations with
Kuwait, Bahrain and Yemen after
Foreign Minister Bruno Stagno's
Friday talks with his
counterparts from the three Arab
countries in New York, the Costa
Rican Foreign Ministry said in a
statement.
