Lower Fiscal Deficit
When Government expenses are larger than the revenues, the resulting difference is known as the fiscal deficit.

Positive news, Costa Ricans learned that the Arias Administration was able to lower the fiscal deficit by 36.6 percent January-October this year, as compared to the same period in 2005.

The Ministry of Finance explained that this results from improved collection of revenues and contention of expenses.

In general, the lower the deficit the less the Government gets indebted to make ends meet.
