Nicaraguan Banks Completely
Solid
A week after the FSLN
(Sandinista National Liberation
Front) triumph in the Nicaraguan
elections, all is stabile in the
banking and economic sectors,
three important bank
representatives assured on
Monday.
The financial system is very
stable and banks are functioning
properly, confirmed Banco de
Producción (BANPRO) manager Luis
Rivas, when sharing a business
breakfast with local and foreign
media.
Rivas s opinion was shared by
his colleagues Enrique Zamora
and Silvio Lanuza, from Latin
American Financial Services
group LAFISE and from Financial
Bank (BDF), respectively.
The three agreed this was
largely due to the reassurances
given by President-elect Daniel
Ortega immediately after he was
proclaimed winner of the
November 5 elections.
According to Ortega, "radical"
changes will not occur in the
macro-economic area with the
arrival to power of FSLN on
January 10.
BDF manager described Ortega´s
message as positive and said
there is a promise to fulfill
expectations in the population
generated by the FSLN triumph.
The future Sandinista government
s main task is to eradicate the
poverty affecting almost 80
percent of the 5.1 million
Nicaraguan people, Ortega said.
