National Exams Underway
The annual "pruebas de
bachillerato" (national high
school exams) is underway today
with Mathematics being the first
of the series of exams that
students across the nation face.
The exams have been a guarded as
a national treasure, with strict
security measures in the
handling and packaging as well
as distribution, to ensure that
no one gets an advance copy, in
which case the current exams
would be destroyed and the whole
process would have to begin
again.
In the event that it is
discovered that copies somehow
got out, all the exams will be
scrapped and students will have
to repear them, said an official
of the Ministerio de Educación
Pública (MEP) - Education
ministry.
Math is one of the most feared
of all exams and that is why the
MEP decided to make it first,
followed by Social Studies.
Tomorrow, Friday, the exams
continue with Social Studies;
Science on Monday; Foreign
languages on Tuesday; and Civics
on Wednesday.
