Entire Neighbourhood Becomes Murder Suspect
An entire barrio (neighbouhood) has become murder suspect of a local thief. Eduardo Loaiza Acuña, who according to police had a long record of robbing his neighbours and other crimes, was found murdered, in front of his home, in León XIII, in Tibás.

The murder took place around 10:30am yesterday, according to witnesses who preferred not be identified, when a man knocked on the Loaiza door, who answered with a "machete" in hand, since he was accustomed to being threatened by residents of the area since he took every advantage to rob them when they became careless.

However, yesterday, the unidentified man opened fire on Loaiza as he opened the door, hitting him in the head and then several other shots to the body when it fell to the ground, making sure the man would be dead.

Police say that no one has come forward or claiming to have seen anything of what they believe to be an act of vengeance, justice for the entire neighbourhood.

When the call to 911 came and police arrived on the scene, the murdered had disappeared, leaving police only with a body and no witnesses.

Heading the investigation are homicide detectives of the Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ) which fear that this will go down as an unsolved case.

The problem police face is that no one claims to have seen anything, heard anything and are not talking to police, fearing reprisals. Police are also working the theory that the murder was a settling of a drug score, since Loaiza was known to hang out with drug dealers, according to Wendy Ramirez, Loaiza's stepdaughter.
