Costa
Ricans Charged with Child
Trafficking
Costa Rica's Justice charged a
group of nationals with child
trafficking and illegal
association that traded in the
adoption of Guatemalan children
for us$42,000 dollars.
The victims were brought from
Guatemala in Costa Rica, placed
at nursery homes and arranged
false documents for the
authorities to declare them
neglected to be able to offer
them in adoption.
Attorney Ana Daisy Quiros says
the group posted on the Internet
the children's pictures, age and
origin, including handicapped
children, through the
"International Adoption
Resource" with branches in Costa
Rica, the US and Guatemala.
The court in San José indicted
Costa Rican Attorneys Carlos
Hernan Robles, Rodrigo Johanning
Quesada and Mauricio Brenes
Loaiza, as well as court
secretary Carolina Lopez.
