Mexico arrests 158 illegal Central American immigrants
Mexico's Immigration and Naturalization Service arrested 158 illegal Central American immigrants in the central state of Puebla on Thursday, police said.

The detained were Hondurans, Guatemalans and Salvadoreans, among whom at least 10 were women. They were seized in three separate operations targeting at illegal immigrants traveling by train, police said.

Police were tipped off by local railway workers who spotted suspicious people on trains. The trains normally travel through Mexico City but had been redirected to Puebla because of heavy rains.

Police searched three trains and arrested a total of 158 people who were trying to use the vehicles to go to the United States.

The railway workers added that there were another 800 illegal immigrants hiding in the trains diverted to the area. The police were planning operations against them.
