Expert: UN Heed Stop on US Torture
Nicaraguan political analyst Aldo Diaz Lacayo demanded Thursday that the newly-created UN Human Rights Council respond to the international call against torture and in favor of closing US detention centers.

Diaz Lacayo is one of the over 6,300 signers of the "Stop Hypocrisy over Human Rights" document demanding closure of the Guantanamo prison camp and other US torture centers around the world.

The expert suggested that some movements accredited to the New York-based body, such as the G-77 or the Non-Aligned Movement, insist on the call and request the General Assembly a reply from the Human Rights Council, headquartered in Geneva.
