No More Porn In The Asemblea Legislativa
Some bad news for legislators, the current bunch and the new ones who will be forming the next Legislative Assembly on May 8: No more porno!

Beginning April 1, it will be prohibited to "surf the net" for porn in the Asemblea Legislativa, along with playing online games and downloading music. The prohibition will also include the sending out of "mass" emails that is not keeping with "good customs" of the legislature.

The new rules on the use of computer equipment was approved last week, which according to Antonio Ayales, executive director of the Legislature, each department head will now be responsible to oversee that the regulation is complied with and to stop public officials from misusing the internet.

Ayales said that misuse of the internet is not to be the taken lightly, it can lead to the person being fired after a reprimand.

The rules apply to everyone who works in the Legislature, including legislators who now each have a personal computer at their benches, that came at a cost of some ¢34.5 million colones to the taxpayers.

Ayales added that the cost to clean out the computer system at the Legislature was ¢1 million colones. "The new regulations are to ensure that we don't have a repeat of this problem", said Ayales.
