Panama Canal use Demand Increases
The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) reported the demand for use of this inter-oceanic channel has increased significantly in the last two weeks with an average of 40 vessels daily.

According to the ACP press note, the increase of vessels passing through this strategic maritime trading center is so great there is a permanent line of 68 ships waiting.

ACP Maritime Operations director Jorge L. Quijano said all resources of the channel are being used due to the high demand, including a new mooring station in Cucaracha just under Centenario Bridge.

Quijano said the last few days use has broken records, and an CP/SUAB (universal system to measure ship volume) of 1.07 million tons was registered March 13 for 46 ships.
