"Green" Alert Continues
The Comisión Nacional de
Emergencias (CNE) is maintaining
a "green" alert for the Central
Valley and Pacific Coast, where
heavy rain had caused mudslides
and rivers overflowing their
banks. The green alert is a
preventive measure to alert
residents to the dangers.
A CNE spokesperson said that
there have been no great
emergencies, there have been
some mudslides in the Pacific
coastal areas and several rivers
have overflowed their banks.
During the past weekend some 40
homes were affected, fortunately
there were no injuries or loss
of life reported.
The green alert went out on June
3 and will continue to be in
effect until the climatic
conditions change, said the CNE
source.
The CNE says it will keep a
close watch on areas that have a
high propensity for flooding and
mudslides and is ready to
respond to any emergency in the
event people need to be
evacuated and are in need of
food, clothing and shelter.
