Chilean President Urges Small
Nations Unity
Chile’s President Michelle
Bachelet called for the need for
regional countries to strengthen
ties, so that their voices are
heard and rights are respected.
At a news conference at the
National Palace Saturday night,
after being welcomed by his
host, Dominican President Leonel
Fernandez, both heads of State
agreed on the need to increase
international aid for an
economic re-construction of
Haiti.
Bachelet spoke out for a joint
support, so that the poorest
country of the region, Haiti,
can get out of its political
instability and economic
deterioration.
Before returning to her country,
Bachelet thanked the Dominican
Republic’s support to Chilean
Jose Miguel Inzulza for his
election as general secretary of
the Organization of American
States.
