Colombians Learn to Read and Write
Nearly 300 illiterate Colombian from Boyaca department, Colombia, are receiving Wednesday the first pilot classes of the Cuban method "Yo Si Puedo" (Yes, I Can), taking place in 30 points of that territory.

In statements to Prensa Latina Tuesday, Osmani Gonzalez, representative of the Cuban Education Ministry in this country, said his country´s advising in that department started on March 6, based on a framework agreement inked on January 27.

The island´s representative stated that this teaching method uses audio-visual aids, which allow greater learning.

The group includes over 120,000 absolutely illiterate people, in addition to a high number of functional illiterates, also included in the group.
