Western Union Wins Costa Rica
National Quality Award
Western Union's Latin American
Regional Operations Center in
Costa Rica, in competition with
21 companies, recently won the
country's premier business
award, the Costa Rica National
Quality Award.
Costa Rica's Institute of
Managerial Excellence grants the
honor to organizations that have
accomplished exceptional
performance requisites.
Costa Rica's President,
Oscar Arias, presented the award
to Western Union during a
ceremony in San José.
"The National Quality Award is a
process that looks to encourage
permanent improvement in
organizations, regardless of
their size or line of business,
through the exchange of
knowledge, implementation of
best practices in organizational
management and the combination
of efforts towards a culture of
excellence," said Guido Monge,
director of Costa Rica's
Institute of Managerial
Excellence.
A global leader in money
transfer services, Western Union
is the only company to win the
honor in its first year as an
entrant.
The company is also the first to
receive this top award while
also winning awards in five
other categories, including
Leadership and Management,
Customer Service, Human
Resources, Innovation and
Technology and Process
Management.
"Receiving this award
demonstrates Western Union's
continuous drive to provide
consumers around the globe a
service that they know and
trust," said David Larkworthy,
Western Union senior
vice-president, head of global
operations. "Western Union is
honored to be recognized and
remains committed to meeting the
money transfer needs of
consumers throughout all of
Latin America, the Caribbean and
the world."
This is the ninth year that the
Institute of Managerial
Excellence of the Costa Rican
Chamber of Industries has
organized the award ceremony.
The Institute of Managerial
Excellence evaluates
organizations in the categories
of Leadership and Management,
Customer Service, Human
Resources, Innovation and
Technology, Process Management
and Environmental Impact.
