More Cops On Costa Rican Streets
At least that is what the presidential candidates are promising, more vigilance by police. All the candidates have jumped on the bandwagon, promising citizens more personal security.

The numbers tell the story. Costa Rica's population has grown by 83% over the past 20 years, while the country's police force has grown only 13%.

Presidential candidates are also promising to beef up prison sentences and unite the various police forces - Fuerza Pública, Policia Municipal, OIJ, etc - so that Costa Ricans can feel more secure.

The presidential election is less than a month away.
