Invests us$2.5 Million in Costa
Rica Plant Expansion
U.
S.-based MedTech Group is
expanding its plant in Costa
Rica with the construction of a
new clean room, which entailed
an investment of us$2.5 million.
Likewise, it will increase its
current employee base from 55 to
100 in the next two years.
MedTech began operations in
Costa Rica at the end of 2005
with a 25,000 square meter plant
and an initial investment of
us$1.5 million.
The decision to expand its
activities is because of the
fact that the operation in Costa
Rica has surpassed its
expectations in regard to
qualified human resources at
competitive costs to do
business, according to the
company.
"Our investment in Costa Rica is
a long-term strategic one,” said
George Blank, president of the
MedTech Group. “The community of
customers there is small at this
time. However, we are pleased
with the quality and dedication
of our employees and believe
that their performance will make
our company a very valuable
asset to our customers.”
MedTech manufactures precision
parts for medical devices molded
through injection processes in
clean rooms. The firm supplies
companies of the medical,
pharmaceutical, diagnostics and
biotechnology industries.
The medical device sector in
Costa Rica has shown strong
growth during the past five
years. Nineteen companies have
established operations in the
country and, combined, they
generate more than 5,000 direct
jobs.
