Biological Corridor
Jaguars, pumas, and other large
mammals which need wide spaces
to survive will be able to move
between the national parks
located in the Osa Peninsula, on
the Costa Rican South Pacific.
Four non-governmental
organizations, with the backing
of the Ministry of the
Environment and Energy joined
efforts to establish a
biological corridor in the Osa
Peninsula, which is in itself a
natural bridge for species from
North and South America.
The
corridor is not a national park,
but an area protected through
research, education, and several
legal rules.
The area is mostly
private property and it is aimed
at biologically connecting the Corcovado and Piedras Blancas
national parks, separated today
by human activity that
deteriorates the forest existing
between the two.
