Ticos Become Nicas To Obtain
Work
For many young Costa Ricans, for
one reason or another, could not
complete their studies in Costa
Rica, opting to study abroad are
living a true nightmare on their
return and trying to find work
in their profession.
The difficulty lies in that
their diplomas are not easily
accepted in Costa Rica, and some
have been forced to move to
Nicaragua, live there and get
their citizenship, as that
country recognizes their
diplomas and offers them work.
To that end, legislative deputy
Jorge Eduardo Sánchez of the
Partito Unidad Social Cristiana
(PUSC), has presented a project
that would allow Costa Ricans to
maintain their citizenship while
obtaining the citizenship of
another country, so that they
can work.
The proposal would also allow
validation of diplomas of
foreign schools on a monthly
basis and not the twice annual
as it is now.
"It is an injustice that the
young, already away from home
and their families, because they
could not get into Costa Rican
public universities and could
not affort the tuition of
private universities, found
options outside the country and
now are being rejected because
their diplomas are being
accredited", said Sánchez.
