Ortega Highlights Fidel Humanism
On his arrival Friday in Havana
Nicaraguan President-elect
Daniel Ortega described
President Fidel Castro as a man
full of humanism.
The FSLN (Sandinista National
Liberation Front) leader, who
participates in the celebrations
for the Cuban leader s 80th
birthday, the 50th anniversary
of the landing of the Granma
yacht and the creation of the
Cuban Revolutionary Armed
Forces, highlighted that Cuban
education, culture and health
projects are examples of Fidel
Castro s humanist ideals.
He said that the Cuban President
is a star that has illuminated
his people and the world, and
delivered a brotherly greeting
from FSLN he chairs to the Cuban
Revolution leader and to Raul
Castro, Cuba s Communist Party
second secretary.
Ortega said that there have
always been intimate relations,
between Cuba and Nicaragua,
which never have been stopped,
not even during the unfavorable
political circumstances of his
country.
He expressed that the challenge
FSLN faces is to eradicate
poverty, accumulated in the
nation due to previous
neoliberal governments, and
among the first actions are
health and education assistance.
