Colombians Like "Tico" Passports
Costa Rican passports issued before last May are eagerly sought by international crime organizations, according to local authorities, who disclosed that there was one place in Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, where theh documents were sold.

Also, at least 20 Colombians have been arrested upon arrival at Juan Santamaria International (San José) Airport carrying Costa Rican passports.

“We have improved controls and this has resulted in better control at ports of entry,” according to the chief of the Immigration Service Mario Zamora, who added that the groups involved are very powerful, thus joint operations with law-enforcement agencies from different nations are developed in order to stem the activities of the gangs involved in the passport business.
