Life Sentence
A
court in Atlanta, Georgia,
served a life sentence to James
Vincent Sullivan, a businessman
who had hid in Garabito, on the
Costa Rican Pacific coast, after
paying a gunman to murder his
wife in 1987.
Sullivan arrived in Costa Rica
in 1988, but escaped when
International Police agents were
ready to arrest him.
He fled to Thailand, where he
was identified in 2002, after
the television show The Most
Wanted in the U.S. listed him.
Defense attorney Ed Garland
praised the jury's mercy by not
giving Sullivan capital
punishment.
