Cuban Exiles behind Human Traffic
Cuban counterrevolutionary groups rooted in the Mexican Caribbean are making millions smuggling people and drugs in this country, Mexican web sites revealed.

Por Esto on-line daily, which is published in Yucatan and Quintana Roo states, denounced those criminal activities and their protection by authorities and said they were sponsored by the Miami-based Cuban-American National Foundation (CANF).

It explained that the CANF bankrolls with millions the human trafficking from the island, and identified three of the gang chiefs as Alejandro Castro Perez and Alberto Garcia Nunez, of Cuban origin, and Mexican Bernardo Pierce Acosta.

An intelligence report said the well-organized criminal network includes at least five gangs and has carried out around 200 smuggling operations to bring Cubans to Mexico since August, 2005.

The daily explains they brought more than 4,000 people to the coasts of Quintana Roo with those actions, for a total price over $200 million.

The text warned that Quintana Roo authorities´ passive attitude is due to the pro-US position imposed by important members of the so called Cuban-Mexican Civic Association, which operates in that state.
