Against the Manufacture of Arms
Costa Rica currently leads the
fight against the manufacturing
and trafficking of weapons
within the Organization of
American States (OAS). This is
so because now Costa Rica is in
charge of the office of the
Inter American Convention in
that area.
The Costa Rican ambassador to
the OAS, Javier Sancho, said
that the appointment is an honor
and that it acknowledges Costa
Rica for its behavior and
performance in this area.
"My country is an unarmed
nation, which does not
manufacture weapons, and that
for decades it has made its
voice heard in the different
international forums in order to
promote awareness on the
importance of this issue,"
ambassador Sancho said.
Costa Rica has made a pledge to
promote the disarmament of the
members of the OAS.
