Rainy
Season May Be Early This Year
It appears that the "temporada
lluviosa" or "rainy season" may
come a little early this year,
even though it typically a
period of lots of sunshine and
heat, as evidenced yesterday
afternoon when a dark cloud from
the north resulted in downpours
and lightining bolts in some
areas of the Central Valley.
The Instituto Meteorológico
Nacional (IMN) - weatherman - is
predicting varied temperatures
for the Central Valley from a
low of 17C to 31C.
The North Pacific (Guanacaste)
is expected to remain dry, hot
and sunny, however, the Central
Pacific (Nicoya, Puntarenas,
Quepos) will experience some
rain, heavy at time.
The Zona Sur (Southern Zone) of
Golfito is already officially in
the rainy season, experiencing
heavy rain and thurnderstorms
over the last couple of days.
The Zona Norte and Vertiente de
Caribe (San Carlos, Sarapiquí
and Limon) will experience light
to moderate showers.
Temperatures will hover in the
30C to 33C.
Traditionally, the rainy season
is between May and November,
with September and October being
the wettest months.
For the Central Valley, it is
best to keep an eye on the
clouds. Sunshine is expected for
the mornings to mid afternoons,
with possible showers and
thunderstorms in the late
afternoon or early evenings.
Taking along an umbrella on an
afternoon stroll may not be such
a bad idea.
