Million for Research
The Government of South Korea
offered Costa Rica us$6 million to establish
an institute of joint
research on biodiversity. This
was one of the leading
agreements reached by President
Abel Pacheco and his Korean peer Roh Moo-hyun
at a Central America and Korea
Summit last week.
High Speed Internet At Lower
Cost Coming October 1
The Radiografica Costarricense
S.A. (Racsa) announced earlier
this month that beginning
October 1 it will more than
double the internet connection
for it's customers, keeping the
cost the same.
Top Dollar Reserves
In spite of the larger oil bill,
the Costa Rican dollar reserves
-destined to challenge
emergencies - currently have
reached a historical maximum of
us$2,4 billion dollars, us$795 million
more than in September last
year.

Million Diverted
London reinsurance firm PWS
International disclosed the
existence of a discretionary
fund which handled us$1.6 million
in six years, allegedly for the
training and travel expenses of
officials from the Costa Rican
state National Insurance
Institute (INS) - the national
insurance company.
