Missing Couple Presumed Dead Are Remembered
The Eastern Kentucky University professor who along with his wife disappeared off the coast of Costa Rica this summer were honored at a memorial service at their home church in Ashland Saturday.

Mark Vockery and his wife Laura were deep sea fishing on an anniversary trip in July  when their boat disappeared.

No one has seen any trace of them since.

After an extensive search, they were presumed dead. Three Costa Rican fishermen are also thought to have perished with the couple.

A search is under way for a Kentucky couple vacationing in Costa Rica. They are believed to be lost at sea.

The Ashland couple, 42-Year old Mark Vockery and his wife 41 year old Laura McCloud, disappeared on the afternoon of July 24 after they took a half day trip on a fishing boat off the coast of Playa Flamingo.

The red flag went up when the fishing boat, the King Fisher I did not return to shore.

An extensive search did not turn up any clues to the whereabouts of the couple or the crew.

It's believed the boat went missing in an area heavily travelled by commercial and pleasure boats.

The area was searched by aircraft, but there were no sightings of the missing boat.

Investigators do not believe weather played a role in the boat's disappearance.

Laura Vockery worked at King's Daughters Medical Center. The couple left behind four children.
