Gasoline Prices Coming Down
Again
Unbelievable, but true. The
Refinadora Costarricense de
Petróleo (RECOPE) made a request
to the Autoridad Reguladora de
los Servicios Públicos (ARESEP)
for another reduction, yes, you
read it right, a reduction, in
the price of gasoline.
When approved, the price for a
litre of super gasoline will
drop from the current ¢458
colones to ¢440 colones. Regular
gasoline will drop from the
current ¢436 colones to ¢419
colones per litre. Diesel fuel
will stay the same at ¢337
colones per litre.
The price drop is the second in
a row following a series of
increase in the past several
months that set a record level
of ¢504 colones for a litre of
super and came down at midnight
Wednesday.
The approval by the ARESEP is
expected in the coming days and
once published in the official
government newspaper, La Gaceta,
could come into effect at the
gasoline pumps as early as next
Friday.
RECOPE officials remind
consumers not to put aside the
habit of saving on fuel
consumption, because there is no
guarantee that price of gasoline
will rise sharply in the near
future.
