Jia Qinglin holds talks with Mexican senate president
China's top national advisor Jia Qinglin held talks with Mexican Senate President Diego Fernandez here Wednesday.

Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), spoke highly of Sino-Mexican relations, saying the bilateral relationship is in the best period in history.

Jia said China is willing to increase mutual trust, strengthen cooperation with Mexico and to enrich the Sino-Mexican strategic partnership.

Jia pointed out that in recent years, leaders of China, Mexico and other Latin-American countries have reached important common understanding on enhancing friendly cooperation between China and Mexico as well as other Latin-American countries.

China is ready to work with Mexico and related Latin-American countries in actively implementing such common understanding and in strengthening cooperation in the areas of economy, tourism and ports on the basis of mutual benefit, Jia said.

During the talks, Jia Qinglin also introduced the multi-party cooperation and the CPPCC systems under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.

Jia said the CPPCC is willing to increase multi-level exchanges with the Mexican parliament so as to further promote the development of the bilateral relations and strengthen the friendship between the two peoples.

China highly appreciated Mexico's consistent One-China policy, Jia said, hoping Mexico will continue to support the Chinese government and people for their efforts for peaceful reunification of the country.

During the talks, Fernandez said Mexico would stick to the One-China policy and is willing to increase high-level exchanges with China so as to add new momentum to the strategic partnership and promote the bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, civil aviation and ports.

The Mexican parliament is ready to increase exchanges and strengthen cooperation with the CPPCC, Fernandez added.

He told Jia that Mexico attaches great importance to further developing its relationship with China and strengthening bilateral cooperation in all areas.

Fernandez pointed out that Mexico and China are complementary in economy and trade, so the two countries can help each other and strengthen cooperation.

Before the talks, Jia Qinglin, accompanied by Fernandez, met with members of the permanent committee of the Congress and viewed a session of the committee.

Jia Qinglin arrived here Monday for an official goodwill visit to Mexico at the invitation of Fernandez.

The CPPCC is China's top advisory body, consisting of representatives of the Communist Party of China, non-Communist parties, personages without party affiliation, and representatives of people's organizations, national minorities and all social strata.

The main functions of the CPPCC are to conduct political consultation, exercise democratic supervision and participate in the discussion and handling of state affairs.
