6 killed, 3 injured in Argentine
plane crash
Six people were killed and three
others seriously injured as a
mini business jet crashed Sunday
night at the international
airport of Argentina's second
largest city of Cordoba,
according to a spokesman of the
airport.
The spokesman said the Pipper
Navajo PA 31 private jet, with
two pilots and seven passengers
aboard, landed 700 meters short
of the runway, killing the
pilots and four passengers.
The spokesman said the four
passengers killed were a
well-known Argentine car racer
and his child and the head of
the Toyota auto racing team and
his child.
The racers were returning from
the western city of San Juan
after a car race there.
An Air Force spokesman said it
was not clear what caused the
accident. Local TV footage
showed that the fog was heavy as
the tragedy occurred about 8 pm.
