7 rebels killed in clashes with gov't troops in
Colombia
Four guerrillas of the rebel Revolutionary
Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and three of the National Liberation
Army (ELN) were killed in clashes with government troops on Sunday and
early Monday, said the military.
One ELN member was killed in an exchange of fire in Cocorna, Antioquia,
and two more of the same leftist group died in clashes in Hacari, Norte
de Santander.
Four FARC guerrillas were also killed, two in Meta, one in Huila and the
other in Tolima.
The military also seized weapons, explosives, ammunition and documents
which will be analyzed by the army intelligence.
The leftist FARC is the largest insurgent group in Colombia, with at
least 17,000 combatants operating in more than 100 fronts all over the
country. It is followed by the ELN, with 4,500 members.
