Gasoline Price Increase Announced
The Autoridad Reguladora de los Servicios
Públicos (Aresep) - the regulating body for public prices and services -
gave the green light to another gasoline price increase, an average of
¢10.7 colones per litre.
The new prices come into affect following the publication of the
decision in the "official" newspaper,
La
Gaceta, which is expected in less that five days, in time
for the holiday traffic.
The new price will set a record. A litre of Super gasoline will cost
¢380.507 colones (us$0.816) from the current ¢370 colones (us$0.793) ;
regular will jump to ¢363.709 colones (us$0.78) from ¢353 (us$0.75); and
diesel to ¢272.638 colones (us$0.585) form ¢264colones (us$0.566).
At the new prices, a 45 litre tank of gasoline will cost ¢17.100 colones
(us$36.69) from ¢16.650 colones (us$35.72).
This increase will be the second for this year, when on January 20, the
price jumped an average of ¢10.9 colones per litre.
