Bolivian president appoints special delegate on anti-corruption
Bolivian President Eduardo Rodriguez on Monday appointed Javier Diez de Medina as special delegate to reinforce the works of the public institutions and to prevent corruption in the South American country, reports from La Paz, the Bolivian capital, said Monday.

Medina, the deputy chief of the Government Accounts Inspectors, will serve as the Presidential Delegate for Public Transparency and Integrity.

In the ceremony of Medina's taking oath, Rodriguez said the establishment of the post is aimed at promoting integrity and transparency in state institutions.

"What my government seeks is preventing a phenomenon affecting public activity" and this new government decided to "stress prevention and institutional strengthening, which I believe is the best way to combat embezzlement," said the president.

He said his goal is to have institutions play their roles so as to reach the expected performance and trustworthiness levels.

The president also said his country will meet its commitments on anti-corruption by strengthening inspection institutions.
