New commander takes charge of
Chilean navy
Rodolfo Codina Diaz was sworn in
Saturday as commander of the
Chilean navy to replace Miguel
Angel Vergara.
The swearing-in ceremony at the
Naval School at the port of
Valparaiso was attended by
representatives of the armed
forces and police, ministers and
legislators.
Codina Diaz was born at
Valparaiso on July 3, 1949, and
graduated from the Naval Academy
in 1969.
He is a specialist on gunnery
and missiles, and an arms
engineer, and holds bachelor and
master degrees on naval and
maritime science.
