Venezuela sends relief to
Jamaican victims of Hurricane
Dennis
The Venezuelan government sent
10 tons of relief supplies to
Jamaica on Saturday to help the
victims of Hurricane Dennis,
which has left more than a dozen
people dead in the Caribbean.
The first shipment included
water tanks, kerosene lamps,
mineral water and blankets, the
Interior Ministry said, adding
that a team of 10 engineers also
went to Jamaica to assess the
situation.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez
has said his government is
considering providing more aid
to Jamaica and two other
affected countries Cuba and
Haiti.
Dennis, one of the mightiest
hurricanes of the Atlantic Ocean
since 1851, hit Jamaica this
week, flooding several towns and
affecting nearly 3,000 people.
One person went missing.
It has killed 10 people in Cuba
and five others in Haiti.
