Bolivia´s Evo Morales Visits Cuba
Bolivia´s president-elect, Evo Morales, is arriving in Havana Friday for talks with Cuban leader Fidel Castro and other high ranking government officials to strengthen cooperation and friendly bonds between the two countries.

An official statement highlights the visit responds to the "historic and profound relations of brotherhood and solidarity between the Cuban and Bolivian people."

It also shows -the release says- "the excellent political ties between Cuban leaders and the Movement toward Socialism (MAS) that Morales leads."

Morales, a driving force behind a progressive movement in Bolivia who has vowed to work for Latin American integration, obtained a landslide victory in the Dec. 18 elections with 54 percent of the vote, a record high in Bolivia´s history.

He also attained a solid majority in Congress with MAS winning 72 of the 130 seats in the House of Representatives and 12 of the 27 Senate seats.

"On the eve of the 47th Anniversary of the Revolution, Evo Morales´s visit distinguishes and fills our people with satisfaction," the note underlines.

It also serves to encourage and strengthen the friendly and cooperation bonds between the Government of Cuba and the future Bolivian administration.

The two governments are "committed to consolidate a true Latin American integration based on solidarity and humanism," the statement points out.
