Traffic Accident Stalls
Internet
Had problems accessing the
internet this morning? The
Radiofrafica Costarricense S.A (RACSA)
says that a truck hit a fibre
optic cable near the RACSA
installations in downtown San
José on Friday, causing an
interruption in internet
service.
Service appeared normal Thursday
night during light traffic, but
Friday morning when traffic
picked up, a noticeable
difference was detected.
RACSA employees worked quickly
to restore service to 100% by
mid-day.
RACSA , a subsidiary of the
Instituto Costarricense de
Electricidad (ICE), is the sole
provider of internet service to
the country.
Cable modem companies, like
Ament and Cabletica, offer
internet service through their
cable system provided by RACSA.
ICE's ADSL service, though
seamless is also provided
through RACSA's installations.
