Fortune of Augusto Pinochet Over 17 Million Dollars
Chilean judge Sergio Muņoz tagged the personal fortune of former dictator Augusto Pinochet at more than 17 million dollars in a resolution he sent on Friday to the Chilean Appeal Court, to request withdrawal of his parliamentary privileges.

Muņoz attributed falsification of passports, identity documents belonging to the local War Sub-Secretary Office, and illegal purchase of land in his request.

He estimated the total at a little more than 17.82 million dollars, which included all his goods as well as interest on the accounts Pinochet has in US Riggs Bank and Chilean banks.

Muņozī request was not only based on tax crimes, but also on falsification of public documents, including passports.

The Chilean magistrate said that although there were slight modifications regarding Pinochetīs real identity, one of the documents had an nonexistent number, which was evidence for the crime of falsification.

Muņoz took into account these passports were used to escape from the Spanish justice process headed by Judge Baltasar Garzon, and to open bank accounts in different foreign banks.

The request also included the purchase of land at El Melocoton (the Peach) in the name of Ramon Castro Ivanovich, which was then illegally transferred to Pinochet.

Additionally, Judge Muņoz considered the possible complicity of Monica Ananias, personal secretary of Pinochet, and Oscar Aitken, his legal executor.

Aitken is suspected of participating in hiding Pinochetīs identity and money in several businesses formed as tax havens.

Regarding Ananias, Judge Muņoz assured she provided Pinochetīs accountant with some information to make tax declarations, whilst hiding the rest, such as overseas investments and bank accounts.
