urged for people to keep calm in the face of
a possible swine flu outbreak and asked the
pharmaceutical companies and supplies of
medical products to not engage in gouging
price practices.

In Costa Rica, the ministra de Salud, María
Luisa Avila, suggested that citizens
temporarily stop greeting each other with
the traditional kiss on the cheek.

Cases of Swine Flu in Costa Rica Climbs To
60
The number of sick suspected of having the
swine flu has reached 60, 20 of which were
discarted following a laboratory analysis.
The ministra de Salud Pública, María Luisa
Ávila, said that although no new cases have
been confirmed, the number of suspected
cases continues to climb.

The Costa Rican government, in declaring a
national emergency on Tuesday, has set aside
us$5 million dollars to deal with a possible
pandemic outbreak of the swine flu. Two
cases of swine flu have been confirmed and
60 suspected in Costa Rica.
