Tamarindo Residents Protest Against Illegal Construction
Upset with all the illegal construction, some 50 residents of the Pacific coast town of Tamarindo decided to have a day of protest on Saturday. The main focus of the protest is the construction of a commercial centre smack in the centre of an already overbuilt area, authorized by the Municipalidad de Santa Cruz.

Owners of properties designated "historical", like the one pictured above on Calle 5 have available to them some ˘100 million colones of public funds to restore them. However, the government agency responsible says that few owners are taking them up on the offer.

Pacheco To Be Nominated For Nobel Prize
