Cruz Roja
Limits Service To Conflictive Neighbourhoods
Following the attack on two Cruzrojistas,
the Cruz Roja Costarricense (Costa Rican Red
Cross) has announced it will not provide
emergency services to conflictive areas
without a police escort.
A call for help in La Capri, Desamparados,
ended up with cruzrojistas Antonio Solano
and Pablo Mora being attacked and threatened
by two minors, whose intent was to assault
the ambulance responding to a false medical
emergency.
Cruz Roja officials said yesterday that the
ambulances will not go into areas of Los
Guido, Los Cuadros de Goicoechea and
Cieneguita de Limón, without a police
escort.
Other areas of San Jose that the Cruz Roja
considers conflictive are León XIII in Tibás,
Tejarcillos (Alajuelita) and Pueblo Nuevo in
Pavas.
The Cruz Roja said that the ambulances will
wait for the Fuerza Pública to respond
before entering the conflictive areas.
