Cuba Solidarity Event in Nicaragua

Managua - Nicaragua will host the 9th national Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba on May 23, reported Edgardo Garcia, coordinator of the movement in the country. This leader of the Field Worker's Association told media that out of abyssmal darkness of neoliberalism rose Cuba, an alternative for Latin America.

Garcia informed that the agenda of the event includes protests of the blockade against Cuba and the violation of human rights of five young anti-terrorists from that nation, unjustly jailed in the United States.

We are going to work for the liberation of The Five (Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino, Antonio Guerrero, Rene Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez) he pointed out, and fighting misinformation against the island is also on the agenda.

For her part, Marlene Valdivia, member of the Solidarity Coordinator pointed out that friendship between Cuba and Nicaragua has been constant, with the example of work by physicians, teachers, donation of hospitals and hundreds of Nicaraguan students in Cuba.

Also, she added, the aid is visible in the literacy campaign, with the application of the Cuban method Yes I Can.

Katty Paez, official of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples noted the current situation of the demand before the United State Supreme Court in favor of the cause of the Five, and said whether the case is accepted will be announced by the end of June.

The day before the Nicaraguan Parliament dedicated a solemn session in remembrance of the popular Cuban figure Jose Marti, with officials of the Cuban embassy present, including the charge d'affairs, Rene Ceballo.
