4 New Cases of A/H1N1 Flu
Panama - The Panamanian Health Ministry
reported four new cases of the A/H1N1 flu on
Monday, bringing the confirmed cases in the
country to 59.
Of the 59 cases, 55 were in Panama City, one
in Colce province and three in Colon
province, the ministry said.
Thirty-one of the cases were women and 28
were men. More than 50 percent of the
infected were patients under 15 years old.
None of the patients have been hospitalized,
but all are under strict sanitary control
and have received specialized medical
treatment, authorities said.
The first confirmed A/H1N1 flu case in
Panama was reported on May 8.
To prevent the spread of the disease, a
campaign has been launched in the country,
calling the public to wash hands frequently
and using facial masks. Three schools, where
students had shown A/H1N1 flu symptoms, have
been closed.
