San José - Caldera Highway Tolls On Hold

Good news for drivers of the San José - Caldera, the tolls will not start tomorrow (Saturday) as had been announced.

The Autopista del Sol, the concession holder of the highway, had asked for permission to start charging tolls, however, the Consejo Nacional de Concesiones, has yet to conclude its final evaluation of the project.

Once the evaluation is complete, the toll booths on the road will began operating.

On the first phase of the highway, San Jose to Santa Ana, the tolls are ¢310 colones at Escazú and ¢160 colones at Santa Ana - each way - for light vehicles. Buses and trucks will pay more.
