Caracas - The Permanent Secretary of
the Latin American and Caribbean Economic
System Jose Rivera summoned people to foster
regional integration to face the world
economic crisis, since it threatens to
worsen.
It is not enough with the effort made
nationwide, it is necessary to come together
to achieve a better financial and economic
situation, the official affirmed at the
Regional Meeting on the Analysis of the
Results of the UN Conference on Financing
for Development.
He expressed nations must be prepared and
any strategy to face the crisis must be
based on the detailed review of macro
policies and its relevance to face the
global deepening recession.
That element, combined with the
strengthening of the domestic financial
system, is essential to cut the financial
vulnerability and it benefits the whole
society, he said.
Rivera stressed the need to foster Latin
American and Caribbean integration while
countries have enough monetary reserves and
as long as the interest of most of the
nations in participating in regional
projects exists.
He noticed the deepening of the crisis could
be specially dangerous for the progress of
the economic integration in Latin America
and the Caribbean. |
