Havana - The 8th Congress of the
Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) is
celebrating International Women"s Day on
Sunday with a discussion on the
organization"s daily and international work.
Female presence in the country"s economic
life will also be a topic in the Congress
agenda.
The FMC congress, which began Saturday with
more than 600 women delegates attending,
will also present results achieved in issues
regarding gender equality and opportunities
for women.
The local women organization was founded on
August 23, 1960. It has been recognized for
its excellent work in different
international events and with international
organizations.
FMC has been working alongside UN bodies on
projects and programs, and monitoring
bilateral cooperation with several nations.
The Cuban organization has excellent
relations with more than 2,000 female world
figures and institutions.
