Evo Morales in Venezuela, Then New York
La Paz - Bolivian President Evo Morales attends
Wednesday in Venezuela the Sixth Summit of the
Bolivarian Alternative for the Peoples of Our
America (ALBA), and later go to New York for a UN
forum on financial crisis.
According to government spokesman Ivan Canelas,
Morales' agenda in both stages includes meetings
with other presidents, the press, and social groups.
The ALBA summit in Caracas expects to formalize the
entrance of Ecuador, Saint Vincent and the
Grenadines, and Antigua and Barbuda to the group,
along with Bolivia, Cuba, Dominica, Honduras,
Nicaragua, and Venezuela, Canelas stressed.
Also on the list is to participate in a parade in
the Campo Carabobo, on the occasion of a battle that
sealed the Venezuelan independence in 1821.
Foreign Minister David Choquehuanca and other
officials from his cabinet accompany Morales in his
trip, the spokesman stated.
Morales' agenda Thursday at the UN summit includes
delivering a speech, giving a new conference, and
meeting with the civil society entitled "The rights
of the peoples before the profits of multinational
companies."
The Bolivian head of State will insist in New York
in defending environment, and stress capitalism is
not a solution for the greater problems of the
world. |
