Guatemala Deals with Health Security
Quetzaltenango, Guatemala - The 12th version of the presidential
program Gobernando con la Gente (Governing
with the People) is expected to conclude
under strict health measures on Saturday in
Quetzaltenango department.
"Greater precautions will be taken in the
event," warned President Alvaro Colom in
reference to efforts being made in Guatemala
to avoid spread of A(H1N1) virus.
Colom extolled success of preventative
actions and treatment for infected people.
There have been 208 confirmed cases of
influenza A(H1N1) countrywide, including 128
who are out of danger, and no death has been
reported.
The program for Quetzaltenango department
started on Friday in its capital,
Quetzaltenango city, with the customary
meeting of national and local authorities,
including 24 mayors and social leaders, who
focused mainly on security issues, as
insecurity has been described by President
Colom as a big challenge for all
Guatemalans. |
