Voters Rise in El
Salvador by 206,000
San Salvador - Voters
have increased by
206,000 compared to 2006
legislative and
municipal elections,
released El Salvador
Electoral Supreme Court.
Those figures are not
yet official, alerted
the entity's president
Walter Araujo who
assured the final data
will be given Friday
when every minute is
counted by hand.
According to Hoy daily
the result of the
ballots of 95 percent
has preliminarily
reflected that 2
millions 266,799 people
went to vote last
January 18, the prelude
of March 15 Presidential
elections.
This corresponds to 57
percent of possible
voters, which means 3
percent increase over
2006 elections in which
two million 60,889
voters participated (54
percent).
Provisional statistics
of the top electoral
entity that finished
counting in the
mayoralties election in
200 of the 262
municipalities of the
country resulted in
3,175 votes challenged,
30,853 void and 12,625
abstentions.
Meanwhile, leaders of
other Salvadorian
political parties urged
the magistrates and
their collaborators to
speed spreading the
electoral results
considered by many a
signal in front of the
