Three offers were submitted to Eólico Valle Central (EVCSA) to install a 15.3MW wind farm in Costa Rica. The bidders were Sinohydro, Consorcio Eólico Valle Central JBM and Consorcio Eduinter-TSK, the official said.

The us$38.3 million wind park is planned for Santa Ana, 15km west of Costa Rica's capital San José, and would take 30 months to complete.

Valle Central will boast 18, 45m-high turbines, which are expected to generate 40.5 Gigawatt hours per year in total.

The evaluation of offers will take 2-3 months, the official added.

Costa Rican power utility CNFL, a subsidiary of the Instituto Costarricence de Electricidad 9iCE) is a partner in the project, which the Central American Bank for Economic Integration will help finance.
