Candidates Ready for Panamanian
Elections
Panama - Panama's Election Court is completing the
registration of candidates to different posts that will be voted at
the May elections.
According to the schedule, Tuesday afternoon is the deadline for
candidates to register.
Last Sunday's statistics show that 20.4 percent of candidates had
not registered yet.
As part of procedures, the Election Court submitted the final
electoral register, containing the names of 2,211,261 voters, to the
political parties.
The presidential candidates are Ricardo Martinelli (Democratic
Change), Balbina Herrera (Democratic Revolutionary Party) and
Guillermo Endara (Homeland's Moral Vanguard).
The May 3 elections will allow Panamanians to elect the president
and the vice president of the Republic, as well as 623 coregiment
representatives, 75 mayors, 71 National Assembly lawmakers, 20
deputies to the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN) and seven
council people. |
